Vectura celebrates the start of the construction of the billion investment Forskaren

December 16, 2020

The construction of Forskaren has begun. To celebrate the milestone, real estate company Vectura presents a short film about the circular building, that will be part of a world-class science city by serving as a creative meeting place for talent and innovators in life science.

– Forskaren is a central investment, says Ibrahim Baylan, the Swedish Minister for Business, Industry and Innovation, as well as one of the participants in the short film.

A new landmark among world-leading actors in healthcare, research and business is starting to evolve in the heart of Hagastaden. Forskaren will be a world-leading innovation partner that will make it possible for Life Science actors to make business and ideas grow. With 24 000 square meters of flexible offices and spaces, the vision is that Forskaren will create exchanges of knowledge and cooperation.

Several of Sweden's most influential people in Life Science are participating in the linked short film. One of them is Jenni Nordborg, the government’s national coordinator in Life Science, as well as Ole Petter Ottersen, principal of Karolinska Institutet.

– We hope that we can be an embassy for healthcare, research and business where people will meet seamlessly. An embassy where you will find the unexpected meetings that create something new, says Micael Averborg, one of the participants in the short film and business area manager commercially at Vectura.

International breakthrough

The construction of Forskaren began in the middle of November and with that, a new phase for what will be a central hub for the Swedish Life Science-research has begun. With its unique concept of creating a center for innovation and development, in a place where half of the regions Life-Science companies exist, Forskaren has already made an international breakthrough.

– I believe that Forskaren will get a lot of successors. Not only in Sweden. I know that many countries are following us. I have received a lot of questions about how to start a collaboration, between academies, authorities, large and small companies in a way that leads to results and creates dynamics, says Ibrahim Baylan.

Moving in 2024

Forskaren will be ready for people to move in by the turn of the year 2023-2024 and will then be the hub in what is called Vetenskapsstaden in the northern part of Stockholm, with Bayer, Karolinska Institutet and Karolinska University Hospital, as its closest neighbors. The short film is a way to, despite the current pandemic, draw attention to the beginning of the construction that will become a world-leading Life Science-center.
